Hi everyone! I have finally began blogging; but I must say I am a tad nervous as to what I am supposed to talk about. I have never “blogged” before, so I have a slight feeling the first few blogs will be a little on the short side. As the weeks go on I am confident that I will improve in my blogging skills, and I will be a bit more personable. So for now, just work with me…

Well, now that that is out of the way, it is time to move along to my very first blog that I have ever written in my entire life:

New is exciting, new is also very nerve racking. New has been been hitting me left and right for the past few months. The two newest and biggest events that have happened are getting accepted to Mexico, and moving to Chicago about a month ago.

First thing first, going to Mexico. I would have never imagined that I would be living in Mexico. Well, I’m not quite there yet, but I am so excited for when I arrive. I am looking forward to meeting new people and sharing all of the wonderful things about God. As I am preparing for this eye-opening adventure, the “worry-wart” in me begins to rattle in my brain, saying things like “This is alot of work”, or “You will not raise the money in time.” All of these worries, I know I need to push aside and let God handle them. He is the one that can solve my concerns, nothing will be done right if I try to do it on my own.

Thinking back on all of my past worries now, it is just amazing how God takes care of every minor detail. For instance, moving to the windy city, Chicago, Illinois. As I was going through the process of getting accepted to the First Year Missionary Program, I was already thinking about (and yes, worrying about) my summer. As my freshman year of college was wrapping up, I had all of these concerns about getting a job through the summer, and the only reason I thought about Chicago was because my best friend Lindsey had just moved there for school, the job market looked a little better than Michigans. Well, I knew she was a nanny, and I thought that that was just the job I needed to look into. Yet again, I had some concerns. I wasn’t sure how many people would just hire a nanny for the summer, but I stayed optomistic and I searched for all the summer nanny positions I could find. After I put my profile on every nanny website in Chicago, I nabbed an interview with a family from the craigslist website. Yes craigslist, after a month of creating profiles on nanny websites, calling and emailing families, I received a call from a family off of craigslist. My one and only interview. So I was well prepared. After a four hour train ride to Chicago, I visited my good friend, went to my interview, and went home. I waited for the phone call from the family, as I still looked for other jobs. About a week and a half later they called me, and I got the job! I don’t know, but I just think God is so wonderful, because he put everything into place after that. He helped me find a sublet apartment that was cheaper and bigger then the apartment I had at school. In the city, that is hard to come by, when most apartments can cost one enough to put a down payment on a house back where I am from. Now that I take the subway to work everyday, I thank God for that too, because I no longer need to pay for gas at its outragious price. The move to the city, although a little intimidating has been a smooth transition, thanks to God.

  1. Welcome to the blogosphere! Yeah, that’s what I’m calling it. It’s good to have you with us. I’m not sure what you consider a long blog, but in my books that was a pretty big one. Keep ’em coming. It’s cool to hear how God is providing for you in the same way He will continue to provide.

    God bless ya!
